Sony Pictures Television Promotes Andrew Plotkin to Head of Drama Development

Sony Pictures Television has promoted Andrew Plotkin to serve as head of drama development.

Plotkin previously served as senior vice president of drama development for Sony TV. The promotion comes after the former head of drama development, Lauren Stein, was promoted to the newly created role of head of creative for Sony Pictures Television Studios. In his new role, Plotkin will continue to report to Stein while overseeing development of all scripted drama series at the studio.

“A leader with a unique ability to cultivate relationships across all segments of the business, Andrew has been able to build strong creative foundations for original shows and IP that provide pathways for expanding and sustaining long-running series,” said Stein. “Andrew’s enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit, and stellar creative instincts have made an invaluable contribution towards seeing these complicated and challenging endeavors come to fruition. Andrew has been a friend and colleague of mine for over 20 years, and I couldn’t be happier for our relationship to continue.”

Plotkin first came to Sony in 2017. Since then, he has been a part of the development of shows like “The Boys” and its spinoffs at Amazon as well as the recently launched “Goosebumps” series at Disney+. His other work includes the multiple Spider-Man universe shows in development and the “God of War” series, all set up at Amazon’s Prime Video, as well as the “Horizon Zero Dawn” series at Netflix, among others.

Before that, he was head of television at New Regency Productions and head of development for Syfy. He has also worked at CCTV, Class IV Productions, and Warner Bros. Television.
