Man Savagely Attacked In Reading

Publish date: 2024-09-20

37 year old Alan Cooke from Tilehurst was beaten up in an unprovoked assault as he walked home along Oxford Road.

Last Friday night he had been out for a few pints with friends and decided to stop at Mr Cod on the way home.

After he came out of the take-away he saw a group of four men. One of them swore at him and punched him in the face twice knocking him to the ground.

Alan told Heart he remembers then being kicked in face a couple of times as he lay on the ground. Staff at the fish and chip shop called 999 and Mr Cooke was treated in hospital for injuries to both eyes, needing 9 stitches, his wrist and ribs and cuts and bruises.

He says it happened so quickly he didn't get a good look at the man who did it and hopes that someone who saw the attack will get in touch with police.

Thames Valley Police told us they've started an investigation and anyone with any information should call them on 101 and quote reference 43170327983.
