Best Women's Razors: The Best Razors For Women

Publish date: 2024-08-24

Shaving is one of those tasks I dread almost every week - unless I'm using one of the best women's razors, of course. I won’t lie though, I occasionally skip it all together if I’m really not feeling up to it... and especially if the weather is rubbish and I’m going to be covered up anyway. That’s not to say that you should only shave to appease others, by the way - I am a firm believer of only shaving your limbs if it’s for your benefit.

I cannot stress enough how natural body hair is, and it’s about time people were more accepting of women who don’t shave. But I personally prefer to remove mine, emphasis on personally, by using women’s razors.

Selecting a ladies razor all comes down to how regularly you intend to use it, whether or not you have sensitive skin, and how much money you’re willing to splurge. There can be some pretty expensive blades on the market, so you’ve got to be picky - there’s no one-size-fits-all ladies shaver. Which is probably a good thing.

While there’s a multitude of other methods to consider when it comes to hair removal - such as epilators, face shavers, IPL devices and wax kits - using a good ol’ fashioned women’s razor seems to be the easiest, and most common, method.

What is the best women's razor?

Gillette Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Women's Razor

Wilkinson Sword Intuition Ultra Moisture Women's Razor

This Gillette Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Women's Razor is both aesthetically pleasing (note the rose gold design) and excellent at removing body hair. The razor blades last up to one month (based on twice-a-week shaving routines); just use and replace when you're ready for a new one!

Wilkinson Sword’s Intuition Ultra Moisture Women's Razor brings convenience to your fingertips. With four precision blades surrounded by a skin-moisturising solid infused with Shea Butter, it lathers and shaves in one step without the need for shaving gel or body wash. What more could you want?

Which razor is best for pubic hair?

You're going to want something gentle for the...um...sensitive parts of your body. Consider razors with strips of aloe vera above and below the blades so that your down below gets a soothing treatment as you remove the hair - like the Wilkinson Sword Quattro for Women Sensitive Disposable Razors, for example.

How do I stop getting razor bumps when I shave?

  • Always let your skin warm up before shaving to save irritation and open the pores for a closer shave. Exfoliate before, this will help remove any dead skin reducing risks of ingrown hairs. Use a body scrub and don't forget to use a moisturiser afterwards.
  • A common mistake people make is using their shower gel or shampoo alongside their razor. While this works, to get the best results, use a shaving lotion or foam - apply a thin, even layer over the skin, including the ankles.
  • Use a fresh razor where possible; most will last about four-five times but for best results, use a fresh blade. A four blade razor minimum is always best for a closer shave.
  • Shave in a downwards direction as it protects you from getting razor burns or ingrown hair. Although shaving against the grain can undoubtedly give you a closer shave, it's not something you must follow if you have sensitive skin.
